Senior Benefits Analyst

Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate overall vendor relationship with respective providers/carriers and Recordkeepers including establishing and measuring of performance standards/guarantees, plan metrics and renewals.
  • Ensure appropriate data is transmitted timely from payroll to Recordkeepers and edit/error reports are reviewed and corrected timely.
  • Manage billing and invoice reconciliation process for providers/carriers and Recordkeepers.
  • Analyze and resolve escalated benefit issues with vendor within 48 hours. If resolution not obtainable within timeframe, provide feedback on status. Research and determine root causes and update benefit workflow to improve processes.   
  • Handle initial claim for benefits and appeals within required ERISA timeframe and seek ERISA legal advice as needed.
  • Assist with annual 5500 filings, ACA reporting and SAR reporting, compliance testing and audit projects (SSAE, OPEB – retiree medical and retiree life, internal audits etc.).
  • Participate in Merger & Acquisition initiatives including review/analysis of health & welfare plans.
  • Oversight of Annual Enrollment processes including communicating/updating requirements, system testing and implementation of plan changes
  • Develop and facilitate benefits education sessions for group company HR teams
  • Assist in implementing annual plan design changes including managing overall HR training and ongoing employee communication. Coordinate and ensure all carrier updates are in place and tested prior to new plan year.
  • Assists in union labor negotiation analysis. Present proposal to internal labor leaders and then at negotiation table  
  • Maintains and updates SPD's and/or SMM's as required and oversee distribution of required ERISA documents.
  • Coordinate/interact with payroll systems and payroll team to monitor appropriate benefit file transmittals and audit benefit deductions/deferrals. Work with payroll team to resolve any benefit issues and escalations impacting payroll.
  • Maintain benefit document libraries in and HR SharePoint libraries
  • Document new processes and keeps existing documentation for Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) current

 

Education and Other Skill Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or related field
  • 5 years’ experience Health & Welfare plan administration experience
  • Working knowledge of the administration of group benefits plans
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to resolve complex issues
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and maintain flexibility

  • Up to 10% travel is required
